Finally I have suitable pictures of my lemans. This is before going to paint.  By this summer I should have replaced the 3.8l v6 with a 400 poncho motor from a 76 GP. It has 35000kms and no rust anywhere. More picture to come as it advances.

Hey Steeve, glad you like the look.  You're right about the Grandam look.  I had a 1979 Grandam from 1984 to 1989 and I painted my Lemans in the same colors because I loved the apearance so much.  I posted the only pictures I have of my Grandam for fun.  The top one was taken in front of my house on the day they finished repairing my street and the botom one is in the pits on HPP Pontiac day at englishtown in 1989 where I went 2 rounds.

By the way, those are the exact same snowflakes from 20 years ago that I kept along with my Grandam nose (still under the house) and a few trim pieces because I knew I would have another one someday.  I think you should definatly get another lemans!  There are so few out there that I always get lots of stares and questions.  Trim parts are hard to find though.

Thanks for the kind words,  see you soon

Dean, love the new look, the snow flake wheels and two tone give it a 78/79 Grand Am look. I saw my old Lemans on the weekend and it looks like someone gave it a fresh coat of paint too, but instead of the silver it looks like plain grey with no metallic. I really should sell the Bird and get another Lemans, easier with three kids to haul around!

Hey guys. I finally am figuring out how to upload pictures.  My file size was too large.  It is finally out and about.  All I need for now is to find the clips to hold my belt mouldings in place and buy 4 new center caps.  So far I've put close to 1700kms on it in 4 weeks and it won't be parked until november.

More updates as the are available.

Ok guys, here is an update.  My lemans is finally painted and next week it will be wet sanded and buffed.  After that I will be able to install my chrome trim to separate the 2 colors.  I am driving the hell out of it anyways in the mean time.  The engine has to wait untill fall or spring because of budget constraints but I will get there.  I will post some new pictures as soon as I figure out how to make them fit the format(new camera, still figuring it out)

Until next time

Hey guys.  The lemans is finally primered and ready for paint.  I have a appointement with the spraybooth in 4 weeks.  My side trim is all polished and ready to install.  Unfortunatly, due to budget constraints the engine will have to wait till late summer or fall.  I will still drive the hell out of it when it is painted, even with the V6.

P.S. My buddy sugested that I install the chevy 350 out an old truck.  I almost gagged.

I'll send pictures as soon as the paint is dry

hey guys,  here's an update for you.  Unfortunatly, the body-work and paint was put on hold this winter due to a problem with the heating in my buddy's garage.  It has finally started with the nice weather and so far I have the left quarter and roof primered and am working forward.  The slowdown sucks but what can you do.  Wheels and tires are mounted and ready.

I recently found a instrument cluster that had a silver backround with black numbers instead of black and white like all the others I have seen.  The only problem is only the speedo is a gauge, the others are all idiot lights.  Has anybody these silver clusters with real gauges.

I will post pictures soon

Hey Steve, too bad you don't have yours anymore.  My side trim is the same as what is on yours.

I forgot to add that it has the original blue bench seat/columm shift interior which will stay.  i want to add a formula wheel and a trans-am style engine turned dash appliqué.  Give a little sporty feel while keeping with the factory parts.

I used to have a 79 Grandam which was two-tone midnight blue with a silver lower section, separated by stainless trim all around. It is being painted the same color with the same trim.  It took me parts off 3 different cars to come up with all the trim parts.  Now I need to polish them.  The current paint is a mix of the original very faded silver with different silver touch-ups and some primer.  I think nail polish also.  This is how I got it.  Ugly isn't it.  For wheels, I still have my snowflakes from my old Grandam and I just finished refinishing them.  When done this will be my daily summer driver.

Whoa! Is that silver or primer? It looks just like my 2nd 81, even the same hubcaps that mine had!
