In mid year of 1968, Pontiac Motor Division along with The Hurst corporation were toying with the idea of a limited production Superbird that was based upon the Firebird. This Super Duty vehicle was never released to the public due to the looming smog restrictions of the day, the project never saw the day of light, but there is but one vehicle that is alive in California. This car came with the pre production Trans Am hood with the original metal RAM AIR emblems on the front section of the hood scoops.  There is only a hand full of these developmental emblems due to the fact that GM was moving away from castings in lew of stickers. The cars also were designed to have the two tone HO strip kit. Standard engine was a Ram Air III with a 4 speed.  Optional was a 428 non factory installed Ram Air IV Super Duty. The car is truly an extreme machine to throw gears in.

Yes  - with a Ram Air VI engine it's like having a Chevy L88 with extra power. No question this will kick you ass on the street.

This car was never produced by Hurst or GM, but it is an example of what should of been a released product by the companies that were thinking about making a Hurst Edition Firebird in 1968 1/2. To top this example of the ultimate Firebird, we are putting in a 428 Ramair VI engine in the car in 2009.
