Well to start things off, she's a project car, looks like a mess at the moment but the car is slowly progressing. Better to do things slow and do them right! Its a 1970 Base Model Firebird with the standard Poncho 350 along with a TH350. Current mods include edelbrock performer intake and carb, long-tube headers, #62 heads with bigger valves, 467 exh lift/298 exh duration, 1.5 inch scorpion roller rockers, HEI distributor, 2500 RPM stall converter, and some smaller mods. The 'bird is about to get all new suspension with a Gen II performance suspension kit.

David, that's an absolutely beautiful engine. I almost hate to drive them when they look so good - but I guess that defeats the purpose. Great job man!

Thanks, Ill see if I have more pictures I can post. I think it has 3 speeds but it's becoming more of a mystery because the more I think about it, it might be a powerglide? When I drove it around I was having problems with the 3 speed shifter like it wouldn't correctly go into drive or any gear and just thought maybe the shifter was broken. From what I remember, I did bring it up to 3rd gear around 50-60 MPH but if this is a powerglide then it doesn't make sense, just going to have to run some numbers and see what it really is

Really? I always thought it was a TH350 cause the TH400 had a longer shaft at the end. I never ran any numbers, maybe I should? what does it look like? Wish it was a 4 speed

David, what trans are you using? That doesn`t look like a TH350 to me. Good to hear from you, it's been a while.

oh ya also I got some 15X7 Rally II's since those wheels are more correct for the year. Snowflakes are awesome wheels but just don't look good on an early 2nd gen IMO. I might however keep 2 of my snowflakes for drag radials for whenever I go to the track

wow I haven't updated in forever but yes, fresh rebuilt motor got put back in 10/08... unfortunately I still have yet to crank it up. I just got done touching up the last parts I'm reusing (pulleys, dipstick, etc) and car will start before the year ends (and hopefully be drivable by next summer!)

You're on the same path I took with my '72- started with all of the bolt-ons, those really wake up a stock 350. The 350 can make some power, but what will really rip is a 400 or 455- the cool thing now is you can get forged rods for about $250! Build up a nice 450-hp 406 and the next thing you'll change out is your trans (blew out a couple of TH350s before I went to a 4-speed).

David, looks like a good start for a project, reasonably straight and solid, cool ram air hood. I like the gold, and the later snowflakes will look good too. Welcome to the 'Bird family!
